Enjoy Tokyo's top view of Mt. Fuji!!
Mt. Takao is part of Tokyo’s Hachioji City and is the most popular climbing spot in the Kanto area, located about 50 kilometers west of the city center. It is a wonderful mountain, designated as Michelin three star along with Mt. Fuji in 2007, and it’s a national park where you can leisurely enjoy mountain walks even on a day trip. The mountain has been especially important to Japanese since 744, when Emperor Shomu commanded the creation of Yakushiji, a famous temple, and thereby encouraged followers to come to the mountain.
Known as one of Tokyo's best outlooks, the view from the observation deck near Cable Car Takao Station is a big panorama overlooking the Kanto Plain, with skyscrapers at center in the distance. On the northern side is Oku Chichibu Mountain Range and the Nikko Ridge Mountains, while in the northeast you can see the mountains of Mount Tsukuba on the other side of the Kanto Plain, as well as the city area of Hachioji, Tachikawa, more clusters of skyscrapers, the Yokohama Landmark Tower and Tokyo Tower.
In this tour, you will meet your guide at Keio Takaosanguchi Station, visit the "Takao 599 museum." and climb the mountain after studying the flora and fauna of Mt. Takao with explanations by the guide. You can enjoy the seasonal nature around the mountain path. Although there are several climbing courses, guides will take you to the less strenuous course if you are not up to serious hiking. You will arrive at the summit in about one and a half to two hours with a break along the way. If the weather is nice, you will enjoy a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji that lives up to being part of the “Kanto Fuji One Hundred Sceneries” from the summit. We’ll ease the tiredness of climbing at "Takaosan Onsen" after coming down the mountain. Leave the hustle and bustle of the city center, listen carefully to great nature, and enjoy a rejuvenating day.

Great day trip
If you want to get out of Tokyo for the day, this is definitely a great option. The scenery & views are fabulous. The route we took down the mountain was quite strenuous so lovely to relax in the onsen afterwards!!. The museum was small but certainly worth a visit. If you want to eat before you head back to Tokyo, do it earlier as many restaurants closed around 6pm.
Rie was a fantastic guide and is highly recommended!
