Kyoto Highlights Private Day Tour

Designed to accommodate all dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, halal, and more, every traveler can enjoy the authentic cuisine and cultural experiences that Kyoto has to offer.

Overview

Many people say that Kyoto is the best city for tourists in Japan. This tour is designed for our visitors who have special dietary requirements such as Muslims, vegans or those with allergies. A local guide will show you the popular spots in the Gion and Higashiyama areas of Kyoto while ensuring that your meals and snacks are suitable for your needs.

① Pick up at your hotel (9:00)

5502561308_5d30b42c09_k.jpg

② Yasaka Shrine (9:25 - 9:45)
Located across the Shijo Bridge, Yasaka Shrine awaits your visit. Yasaka Shrine is famous for the Gion Festival, one of the three biggest festivals in Japan, which involves hundreds of people carrying floats and dates back over a thousand years. The number of worshipers over New Year's period tops more than 1 million every year, making it one of the most popular shrines in the country. The adjacent Maruyama Park is one of the most famous places in Japan to enjoy cherry blossoms, making the shrine especially beautiful during spring.

③ Gion (9:55 - 10:30)
Next we will explore the Gion neighborhood, extending west of Yasaka Shrine to the north and south. A cherry-blossom lined path where nice cafes and tea houses line the street, with quintessentially Kyoto views yours for the taking in. You may even meet a Maiko (roughly equivalent to young, apprenticing Geisha) if you are lucky.

IMG-1126.jpg

③ Kenniji Temple
Constructed in 1202, the Kenniji Temple is the oldest zen temple in Kyoto. It was opened by Eisai, the Buddhist monk who introduced zen Buddhism to Japan after returning from study trips to China. The vast temple is made up of many towers and beautiful gardens, especially famous is the pebbled “zen garden” where you can sit and contemplate freely.

Nishiki Market.jpg

④ Nishiki Market and Lunch (11:45 - 13:15)
The Nishiki market is a popular shopping area for Kyoto locals, and is filled with seasonal fish and fruits, as well as traditional craft items unique to Kyoto. The market is five blocks long so makes a good place to enjoy both shopping and eating while strolling. we will have lunch time around Nishiki market. If you have other dietary requirements, or if you prefer to eat something else, please inform us in advance and we will arrange an alternative lunch spot.

⑤ Fushimi Inari Shrine (14:00 - 15:30)
Almost everyone has seen pictures of the thousands of red torii gates leading from the base of this Shinto shrine all the way to the top of Mount Inari. Fushimi Inari is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. People have historically gathered there to pray for bountiful harvests and prosperity for their families.

As well as checking out the grounds of the main shrine, you can ascend the mountain through the torii gates, keeping an eye out for smaller shrines and statues along the way.

⑧ Conclude at your hotel in Kyoto (16:00)

Highlights

· Stroll around Nishiki market where fresh fruits and local crafts abound
· See the west gate of Yasaka Shrine, which is a symbol of Gion
· Walking around Gion / Hanamikoji path where the Maiko walk

Kyoto Tour

We traveled from our place in Osaka to Kyoto together with our tour guide Ms. Michiko. Visited Nishiki Market and had lunch there, watched the show at GEAR Theater and the kids enjoyed the Ninja experience at TOEI Kyoto Studio Park. Michiko was very pleasant and helpful!

A Taste of Kyoto

We decided to go on one-day Muslim guided tours in all three cities (Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo) as it is our first time visiting in Japan, and we wanted to get a feel before venturing out for ourselves.

Our guide was Mamoru-san. He was very generous with his knowledge on the places we visited. From the colourful variety of goods of Nishiki market, to the blossoming culture on Gion Street and the breathtaking view on mountain top Kiyomizudera temple, our visit wouldn't have been as exciting and as efficient without the Mamoru-san's guide.

We also had the chance to eat Halal certified Ramen at Naritaya Ramen shop. The miso-ramen was personally my favorite ramen in our whole 2 weeks stay in Japan.

Thank you Mamoru-san and Omakase!

Faris Anaqi(Malaysia)★★★★★

As this was our first time in Kyoto, we were having a hard time finding a suitable tour for us but Omakase provided us with the best value tour for large groups to Kyoto.

Our large group was greeted at our pick up point by Ms. Toshiko and taken to Kyoto by bus. We were taken to the beautiful Fushimi Inari Shrine and then to the amazing Sanjusangedo Temple. After that we had lunch at the amazing Halal Yakiniku that Omakase recommended. We then proceeded to Nishiki Market for some shopping before ending our tour at the Kinkakuji.

Overall we were very satisfied with the tour that Omakase planned for us and Ms. Toshiko is a great tour guide who explained all the backstories of the places we visit with great passion. We will definitely contact Omakase again if we go to Japan again.

We had fun!

We would have preferred a van service however with the mode of transportation being train and bus, it was a good experience. My husband had a knee problem so he could not do 20,000 steps but the guide was kind enough to book a taxi for us in areas where he was too tired to walk. I love our guide she was patient, kind, taught me many things about Japanese culture… her name was MIZUHO. We had fun!!! Loved the shrine and temple and market, among others?

It was a lovely tour! Miyo is a fantastic guide with excellent communication skills and plenty of competency. Her English is not just good, but she speaks with no accent, making her even more unique among tour guides. She was not just our guide during our tour but more of our guarding angel. She made our day so pleasant and seamless. We have participated in several tours in and out of Japan, but Miyo is the best. I can recommend her and this tour without hesitation.

Amazing Guide in Osaka and Kyoto!!!

Just returned from a 3 week trip to Japan and I already want to return! We had a large 20 person family trip planned starting and ending in Tokyo. We had a 12 day cruise booked to get around Japan since it was easier to travel that way with 2 wheelchair users and several elderly travelers. Because we had some unique circumstances, we booked our own private excursions at each port. Based on the reviews online, I went with Omakase since they had some experience with travelers with limited mobility. And they did not disappoint!! But my favorite guide throughout our whole trip was MIYO. If you’re going to Osaka and Kyoto, see if you can get a tour with her!!! She is the sweetest, warmest and most accommodating person!! She really listens to your requests and your needs as a traveler and goes above and beyond! Several of my family members bonded with Miyo (including me!) and we could not have had a better time in Osaka and Kyoto with her. She really is a wonderful guide and helped to make our trip to Japan an unforgettable one!!! Thank you!!!

Hans-Olof Hagen(Sewden)★★★★★

A good tour with a very nice guide

The tour to the golden pavilion and the Kyoto residence of the Shogun during the Edo-period was very interesting and the best part of the tour. They were both very beautifully. I especially appreciated that they had preserved the forest covered hills behand the pavilion that made the pavilion to really stand out. And I liked the animals that were painted on the walls of the shogun reception rooms. The was quite nice, even if it was obvious that the artist had never seen tigress and leopards.
We real appreciated our guide Yoshida. She was knowledgeful and very nice. Especially how she took care my wife, then she got a little tiered in the heat stands out. We liked her a lot.

great chance to see Kyoto in a limited time frame

The Kyoto Highlights Privae Day Tour is a MUST activity for anyone wanting to explore Kyoto with someone who speaks the language, understands the culture, and can help manuever through conversations with the locals. Our adventure began at the Kyoto station where we met our guide, Miyo. She was very communicative before the adventure started as we messaged on WhatsApp about the itinerary, meeting points, and answering any questions we had. From the start, Miyo was a delight to be around and communicate with. She loved learning about us as much as loved learninga bout her and Japan. Miyo took us to view quite a few different places (and even made some last second changes based on crowd sizes or convenience of being near other attractions). I highly recommend this experience mostly because it was a great chance to see Kyoto in a limited time frame and it was relaxing to leave the navigation and communication to someone who knows the best. The whole family agreed that the time we spent with Miyo in Kyoto was easily the most relaxed and gave us a chance to really learn/appreciate Japanese culture!

Kyoto tour with a local guide

We were delighted with the tour provided by Akari. Having a local guide made the experience seem more like a friend showing us her neighbourhood than a commercial package.
Akari got the balance right between showing us the "essential" highlights and providing us the flexibility to do as we chose. We'd happily recommend the experience.

A great visit to Kyoto and Nara with Sachiyo Oguchi

Sachi showed us the highlights of Osaka, Kyoto and Nara on separate day tours using a combination of trains, busses and taxis in late October. She is friendly, interesting and knowledgeable. All our visits were well-organised and adapted, as required, to accommodate one of us with mobility issues. At the end of the day, she made a point of giving us many good suggestions about where to eat in the evenings. It was a delight spending three and one-half days with Sachi. We highly recommended her.

Just a wonderful experience from beginning to end

Was greeted promptly at the expected arrival time by the guide, at the reception area of my hotel. This was very convenient and eliminated the stress of trying find a meeting place in a completely new city, where the language and written characters are unfamiliar. From there, walking among the beautiful shrines, temples and gardens was so satisfying because the guide had easy to understand charts and timelines that showed how Shinto, Buddhism and Japanese culture developed. Every question I had was answered in very clear English. My request to see rock gardens and moss gardens was completely satisfied. Doing the entire tour on foot worked out perfectly for me because I hoped to experience the beauty of Kyoto immersed in it. I was provided a card that allowed me to get through every entrance gate at each train station, a very satisfying feeling as I was completely unaware of the procedures for Japanese trains. The guide provided thorough, detailed and interesting information about each place on the tour, which was what I had hoped to learn. Just a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Kyoto in the Autumn is filled with natural beauty, culture, architecture and gardens. I feel like this walking tour, and this pleasant, knowledgeable guide allowed me the best opportunity to explore and experience a wonderful day in a wonderful city.

Outstanding and highly recommend!

Amazing!! Highly recommend for private tours. We were traveling with children and had only 2 days in Kyoto. Omakase helped plan the perfect one day itinerary for us that was customized to visit our top sites. The communication before and during the tour were outstanding. They took the time to confirm every detail. Moreover, our private tour guide Miyo was the BEST!! She was knowledgeable and personable. I loved her ability to be flexible when it started to rain to ensure that we saw the perfect sites before the rain and during the rain. I highly recommend requesting Miyo. She also had all sort of fun ideas to keep our kids engaged and lots of wonderful recommendations. Her communication was great and we loved spending the day with her. Also, our driver was outstanding too. He was always available for us and expertly navigated us to all the sites. Thank you and look forward to returning to Japan soon!

Our guide Yuki was friendly and very knowledgeable, providing excellent historical and cultural information on each of the sites visited. She also helped us get tickets for a sporting event my son really wanted to attend while in Japan - she was great!

Ayako is the best you can have

We had a wonderful time touring Kyoto with Ayako as our guide. Her knowledge of the places we visted was so helpful in understanding the places, culture and history of the places we visitied. She took us to the Fushimi Inari Taishido Shrine,, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, the Nishiki Market, the Gion District and Kennin-Ji We will always remember the day thanks to Ayako and the photos she took for us If anyone visits Kyoto or goes Osaka or Kobe and needs a great tour guide, Ayako is the best you can have.

highly recommend

Masako made the tour so enjoyable by sharing interesting stories about Kyoto’s history and culture. She took me to the city’s most important places, like beautiful temples and peaceful gardens. One of the best parts of the tour was trying Japanese food. Masako introduced me to delicious local dishes and explained their meaning, which made it even more fun. This tour was such a great experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto.

We would highly recommend this tour and service.

We really enjoyed our private tour. Our original guide, Mika, was in touch a few weeks before our trip. She spoke to me via WhatsApp and coordinated an itinerary and lunch spot, making sure to account for my wife’s allergy restrictions. Unfortunately a day before our tour, Mika reached out to let me know she was feeling ill and as a precaution, we would have a replacement guide. Miki and the operator both reached out to let me know that our new guide, Yuki, would be showing us around. Yuki picked us up from our hotel the next day as promised, clearly explained the itinerary (and was well caught up on the agreed upon itinerary, lunch spot, and allergies). throughout the day Yuki was fantastic at providing relevant historical, cultural, and fun facts. She shared some of her personal favorite spots (like little cafes), and helped us take pictures. She made the day easy, fun, and informative. Thank you Yuki (and Mika)! We would highly recommend this tour and service.
