Enjoy walking down narrow backstreets of Nakasendo!
While Magome or Tsumago is a small village, it has remained largely unchanged for 150 years.
Nakatsugawa developed as the major center of the area, mainly for the lumber and silk fiber industries. Its center maintains a charming atmosphere with its narrow back streets where only walking is possible. Its confining nature allows explorers to feel a sense of familiarity with the locals living there. The city has an abundance of traditional sweet shops (mainly Japanese) and many welcome their customers to rest a while. Get a sense of local everyday life as you breathe in the sights, sounds and scents of historic Nakatsugawa. This tour is suitable as an add-on (before and after) tour for Magome and Tsumago visits. Get a feel for the local flavor with us!
