Overview

During this tour you will be cycling at the foot of Mount Hakusan, one of Japan’s three famous mountains, which is recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
You will discover the best waterfalls and nature in this natural park while pedaling on a comfortable e-bike.

10:00 Start at Tsurugi Station and ride alog Tedori Canyon Road

Tedori Canyon is a narrow gorge along an 8-kilometer stretch of the Tedori River with 20–30-meter-high cliffs on each side.

10:50 - 11:30 Watarigataki Waterfall
Watagataki Waterfall is named after the word for cotton, ‘wata’, because it is said that foaming waterfall looks like fluttering cotton. The water falls a dramatic 32 meters, surrounded on all sides by cliffs. A lookout is available east of the waterfall, but the best view spot is in the gorge, which can be accessed by a staircase. You will also stop at a local sweets store close to the waterfall.

12:40 - 13:20 Ride along the rice fields to reach Utaura Waterfall
Rice fields are a beautiful and ingenious use of the country’s rural landscape, that you will be able to fully enjoy during this portion of the tour.
Depending on the season you will be able to also admire some seasonal flowers.

13:20 - 13:45 Shirayamahime Shrine and Biwa Falls
Said to be originally built over 2100 years ago, the Shirayama Hime Shrine sits in the southern part of Tsurugi, built high on the river terrace in order to overlook the Tedori River. It is a very quiet and serene location, with several smaller shrines located throughout the grounds.

13:45 - 14:00 Fudo Waterfall at Kinkengu Shrine
This 15m high waterfall is located on the cliff of a river terrace, by the grounds of Kinkengu Shrine. It provides a relaxing space to sit and enjoy nature on your way to and from the Kinkengu Shrine.

14:00 - 14:30 Return to Tsurugi Station
